Leadership Oakland is a civic and professional development initiative that prepares current and emerging leaders to make a meaningful impact in Oakland. Through a dynamic, group-based experience, participants gain a deeper understanding of the city’s key systems, including economic development, government, public safety, education, and the nonprofit sector. They also build strong relationships with fellow leaders and decision-makers.
The program combines hands-on learning, direct access to community leaders, and real-world engagement opportunities. It equips participants with the knowledge, network, and confidence to serve on boards and commissions, assume public leadership roles, and drive change across Oakland. Leadership Oakland Class of 2026/2027 Application:
Registration Dates and Cost
Regular Tuition: August 1 – September 1 = $1,595
Late Tuition: September 2 – September 11 (final date) = $1,795
A $100 tuition deposit is due with your application. Applicants will be notified of their admission status on September 12th (late applicants notified on September 18th) after all applications have been reviewed. Applicants have until 5pm on Monday, September 30th to confirm their place in the program or it may be given to a waitlisted applicant and tuition deposit will be forfeited. The complete tuition minus the $100 tuition deposit must be paid in full by Thursday, October 2nd. If the complete tuition is not received by the day of orientation, the applicant will not be allowed to participate.
